Bright lemony hue. The nose reveals an impressive array of aromas, beginning with vanilla curd, dried flowers, hay and almonds before unfolding into generous layers of ripe peach, apricot, dried pineapple and yellow citrus peel. The palate is driven by a chiselled acidity that cuts through the bold fruit flavours and brings balance and definition. The oak is beautifully integrated, adding texture, depth and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit. Complex flavours of yellow citrus, stone fruit and fresh pineapple fill the palate. The wine clearly reflects its warm Wellington origins, with an expressive spectrum of ripe yellow and orange fruits, yet retains an impressive refinement and delicacy. A bright, lively acidity keeps the palate fresh and energetic, preventing the richness from ever becoming heavy. The finish is long and lingering, with pithy citrus peel, white peach and a gentle touch of oak spice. A delicious and beautifully composed old-vine Chenin Blanc, showing the depth and complexity one would expect from a vineyard planted in 1982.
